Ceramics in Manises

Near Valencia, a metro ride away, is a town called Manises. Manises is well known for its centuries of ceramic art and production. Here are pictures of the Manises museum, and the showroom of an active ceramic studio.

Here are some city scapes, including many colourful tiles.

Some (very old) beauties from the museum collection.

Included here are also some extremely old Moorish ceramics. I believe the triangle shapes (top row, far right) were used as stamps.

Three little lustre altar pieces featuring two madonnas with child and one crucifixion. Some excellent majolica painting (note the painting of the ladle, with little feet to keep a kitchen counter clean), and the unexpected way of opening a watermelon). A selection of decorated plates, and at the very end a lavishly decorated amphora (I struggle to remember how old this is, but relatively modern I believe).

Below are examples of majolica painting from the Fabrica la Ceramica Valenciana de José Gimeno. Some are very extravagant, others are quite simple or comical.
