Ceramic Tiles and Floors of Manises, Spain
Written By Roxane Wing
So both the MCM (Museo de la Cerámica de Manises) and the historical, active showroom (Fábrica La Cerámica Valenciana de José Gimeno) have extremely nice examples of Manises-fabricated tile floors – and ceilings, and stairs. They’re clearly inspired by Moorish origins, with intricate tile tesselations and playfully varied patterns set within a strict colour palette.
At the very end you see the unglazed red and black socarrat tiles with medieval motifs. If you click on, then hover over the photo, it will give you the names of all the motifs I could find.
As a reward for making it this far, check out the hot air balloons.
